One of the finest innovations of late that is essentially good for something is the cartable GPS unit. Whether or not you are on a long driving trip or simply heading to a new location near to home you will love having a GPS to steer you along the way! Do i have a soft spot in my heart for TomTom for some reason? Yes I do, but just because it is the only brand that I have used so far.
My better half and I love going on weekend trips with our youngsters to destinations that we will be able to drive to. I’m the driver and my better half is the navigator, problem is she likes to sleep while I drive. There were occasions where she has been sleeping and I have missed a turn, and a few where we’ve been confused with the directions we made public on the internet. How great it would’ve been to have a GPS to show us which way to go with nice big arrows and voice prompts!
Portable GPS have been about for a little while now and just keep getting better and better. Like every other electronics, theyare way overpriced when first released, but now you can get yourself a great GPS unit for ratherless than you might think.
One of the original models like the cheap TomTom One XL is still a great buy today, and it’s a 3rd of it’s original cost. The great thing about GPS is that you can easily update the maps thru the TomTom website so that the unit truly never does become outmoded. If youare happy with the functionality of the unit and you don’t need any of the fancy features of the most recent and greatest, then why pay for what you do’t need?
If you are a heavy user of a portable GPS and can use all the awesome features that are currently available then your luck is in. TomTom right now has units e. G the Go 740 Live, that might not only steer you to your destination, but you may make hands-free calls thru Bluetooth, get real time traffic, gas prices, looking powered by Google through wifi, voice recognition and more!
Should I even get a GPS? So many phones have it built in, whatis the point? Not everybody has acellphone with GPS capabilities, so yep there are tons of us that need a GPS unit. The great thing about buying acartable GPS is that you donot have to pay extra monthly charges like you would if you upgraded your cellphone to something with GPS built in. Think about it, $30 additional every month for net on your cellphone or an one time acquisition of $100-200? And if youare looking to save much more, you can pick up a discount TomTom GPS for even less than that!
The one question that remains is what happens when more and more people keep getting iPhones and others such as robots that have in-built GPS in the phone? No need for another movable GPS… Does this signal the end of TomTom, Garmin and others? Only the passing of time will let us know for sure!
